RAIDERS SPLIT WITH WEED IN DOUBLEHEADER
The Burney Raiders opened Shasta Cascade League play on the road against the Weed Cougars. The two teams split the doubleheader with the Raiders taking the first game 10-7 and the Cougars took the nightcap 13-2.

MODOC CAPTURES 35TH ANNUAL BRI TOURNEY
Modoc captured first place at the 35th annual Burney Rotary Invitational wrestling tournament, garnering 211 points.

The Modoc Braves scored 27 unanswered second-half points on the road to beat the top-seeded Portola Tigers and remain undefeated, garnering the Northern Section Division IV championship on Nov. 26.

The Burney Raiders beat the Etna Lions 10-2 to finish the Shasta Lake Bass Classic on a high note Friday. The win gave the Raiders a 1-4 finish to the three-day tournament.

BURNEY SOFTBALL AT ANDERSON CUBS CLASSIC
The Burney lady Raiders opened its softball at the Anderson Cubs Classic small school tournament March 13 and 14 at Big League Dreams in Redding.
Burney lost to the U-Prep Panthers 4-0 and Hayfork Timberjacks 6-1, but finished the day clobbering the Princeton Eagles 13-1 in pool play Friday.

MT. SHASTA GIRLS & BOYS VARSITY BEATS BULLDOGS
In Shasta Cascade League action, the Mt. Shasta Bears boys and girls teams defeated their hosts Friday night. The Bear boys won 72-43 and the Mt. Shasta girls won 43-33.

The Burney Raiders softball team had a pair of big wins to finish the Marble Mountain Classic softball tournament with a record of 2-2.
The lady Raiders didn’t fair well in the morning games, losing to the Mt. Shasta Bears 5-1 and the Yreka Miners 13-0. However, Burney warmed up in the afternoon and beat the Weed Cougars 15-5 and the Trinity Wolves 15-0 in the consolation game. Photo above by

The Burney Raiders varsity boys and girls teams challenged the mens and womens alumni in two games Friday night.
The alumni wound up winning both contests; the women defeating the girls varsity, 50-35, and the men defeating the boys varsity at the buzzer, 47-46.

BURNEY AT HAMILTON
The Burney Raiders opened the hardwood season with a 42-41 victory against the host Hamilton Braves on Dec. 2. Bobby Linquest only scored two buckets, but he had the one that counted most. Linquest made the catch and reverse lay-in to give the Raiders the lead with just 2 seconds remaining.
Ryan Phipps led all scorers with 16 points followed by Dylan Harrington with 15.

DIV. V CHAMPIONSHIP FALL RIVER VS. MAXWELL
The Division V title game was a rematch between the Fall River Bulldogs and Maxwell Panthers. Just like last year, Fall River was the victor this time with a 28-0 win to bring home the Northern Section hardware.
