BURNEY AT FALL RIVER BASEBALL

The Fall River Bulldogs took two games in the April 24 clash with Burney, improving their Shasta Cascade League record to 6-4 and overall mark to 11-11.

Garrett Barnett struck out 12 in the Bulldog victory. Adam Brubaker was 2-for-3 with a home run while Taylor Sloat homered twice and drove in 4 runs. In the second game, Brad Kyle struck out six. Barnet led the offense with a 3-run home run, Mitch Pena was 2-for-2 and Brubaker was 2-for-4. Photo above by Katie Harrington

TRINITY AT FALL RIVER SOFTBALL

The Fall River softball nine split a double-header April 1 with the Trinity Wolves, losing the first game 4-3, but coming back in the second clash with a 10-0 victory in six innings.

The results gave the lady Bulldogs a 1-1 mark opening Shasta Cascade League play and brought their overall record to 8-6. Trinity's SCL record stood at 1-3 and their overall record was 4-6 following the matchup. Photo above by Craig Harrington

BURNEY AT MT. SHASTA SOFTBALL

The Burney Raiders split a double-header with Mt. Shasta at the Bears diamond April 1, losing the first game 11-1 and then coming back in the second to take the victory 13-6.

The results gave the Raiders a 2-2 mark in the Shasta Cascade League and brought their overall record to 8-5-1. Mt. Shasta's SCL record stood at 1-3 and their overall record was 5-10 following the matchup. Photo above by Richard Allan

FALL RIVER WINS DIV. V BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

The Fall River Bulldogs record the final out and celebrate their Northern Section Division V baseball championship with a 6-3 win over the top seeded host Maxwell Panthers on Saturday.

Hurler Brad Kyle earned the win going 4-1/3 innings and Garrett Barnett closed the show. The Panthers had the bases loaded with one out in the sixth but failed to get a run across. . Photo above by Richard Allan

BURNEY AT FALL RIVER SOFTBALL

The Fall River girls improved their Shasta Cascade League record to 6-4 and their overall record to 13-10 after taking two games from the visiting Burney Raiders on Thursday.

The two victories, 7-3 and 9-5, left the Raiders at 4-6 in the SCL and sporting a 12-11-1 record overall. Emily Estes picked up the pair of wins. Kayla Russell was 4-for-5, driving in five RBIs. Juliana Corr was 3-for7 with three RBIs. Photo above by Craig Harrington

The Fall River boys baseball team split a double-header April 1 against the Trinity Wolves, winning the first game 6-1, but losing the second contest 7-4.

The split gave the Bulldogs a 1-1 Shasta Cascade League record for their SCL opener and a 6-8 mark overall. The Wolves stand with a 5-1 SCL record and an 8-11 overall stat following the games at the Bulldog diamond. Photo above by Craig Harrington

MITCH PENA GRAND SLAM

Mitch Pena delivers the decisive blow with a fourth inning grand slam home run to give the Fall River Bulldogs a 6-0 lead in their Northern Section Div. V baseball championship matchup with the host Maxwell Panthers.

The Bulldogs held on to win the game 6-3. Mitch Barsotti’s 3-run blast in the fifth cut the Bulldogs lead in half. The Panthers had the bases loaded in the sixth with one out but failed to score with Barsotti and James Bowen both striking out. Photo above by Richard Allan

Central Valley High School
hosted the annual John Frank
Invitational Track and Field
meet April 12 at CVHS.

Eric Hubbard of Fall River High School, pictured above, hurled the shotput 41 feet, 2-1/2 inches for 12th place. Alyssa Jones of Burney High School also competed in the shotput and finished with a distance 27 feet, 7 inches among all the schools attending. Photo above by Rita Dressel

The Raiders split a double-header with the Mt. Shasta Bears April 1, winning the first game 10-6, but dropping the second clash 14-4 at the host diamond.

Burney sported a 3-1 Shasta Cascade League record and a 7-6 overall record following the contests. The Bears posted a 1-3 SCL record and a 4-12 overall mark after the matchup with the Raiders. Photo above by Richard Allan
