Yreka’s Manny Barragan ran for 152 yards and scored a pair of 40-yard touchdowns as the host Miners defeated the banged up Central Valley Falcons on Friday 34-7 in the final regular season game for both teams. The Miners finished in third place in the Northern Athletic League with a 3-2 record (7-3 overall).

BURNEY VS. ETNA
The Burney Raiders ended their volleyball season in a 3-1 loss to the visiting Etna Lions Thursday. While Burney won't see a post season schedule, both Big Valley and Fall River move on to the playoffs.

The Fall River Bulldogs came from behind to edge out the Modoc Braves, 30-29, in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter Friday night at Ed Carver Stadium in Alturas.

Foothill showed why they just may be the most dominant team in the Northern Section here Friday night. The Cougars (3-0) scored three times in the first 45 seconds of the game on their way to a 43-7 win over Central Valley (0-3).
Despite the loss, the Falcons looked good and showed improvements in a few areas, including few, if any, turnovers or penalties.

The season came to an end for the Fall River Bulldogs Nov. 9, 2006. They were bounced out of the Division V playoffs with a 48-14 drubbing at the hands of the Maxwell Panthers.
Down 20-0 in the second quarter, the Bulldogs were driving and looked to get back in the game. But Gustavo Rangel took a Cody Wagner pass the other direction 70 yards and a 27-0 Panther lead. IIt was a tale of two ball games here Oct. 26 as Central Valley lost to Lassen 39-20. The Falcons jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and 20-6 at the half.
But a severely fractured ankle that ended the season for the team’s leading rusher, Kody Hill, and a knee injury to Ben Ingersoll hurt C.V. as the Grizzlies scored 33 unanswered points in the second half, several on long plays by Lassen’s Joshua Baum who finished with 236 yards rushing.
